OFFICIAL GAME RULES
Your team is assigned to investigate a case where someone (or something) is being held captive in a remote Michigan cabin. You are scored on your ability to uncover the story, solve problems, and make decisions.
GENERAL
You have 60 minutes to complete as much of the investigation possible;
You are equipped with a mobile device. This mobile device tracks your progress by recording points;
Answering the fifth question of each level of questions unlocks the next level. You may skip around (you do not need to answer questions in order);
Audio tapes do NOT contain “unlocking hints,” but may contain answers for points;
You are also equipped with a flashlight, and a worksheet to help you stay organized.
POINTS
Your progress in the game is graded on a point system. Points are determined by the following:
Time. One minute = 25 points. You begin with 1500 points. Each minute you use in the game, 25 points are deducted from your score;
QR codes. Throughout the game, you encounter QR codes that you may scan. Scanning these QR codes affect your score;
Questions. By successfully progressing through the story, you should be able to answer questions on your mobile device. Answering correctly gains you 100 points. 200 points are deducted for each incorrect answer;
Exit code. Collecting the five digit exit code will gain you 1000 points.
Level 5, Question 5 is a decision question. Based on what you have learned, you may choose the outcome of the investigation.
GAME ENDING EVENTS
The game ends if one of three events occur:
Scan the exit QR code. You may scan the exit QR code at any time. The mobile device will ask if you wish to continue or exit the simulation. If you choose to exit, the game will end;
Answer Level 5, Question 5. If you answer this question AND you have already scanned the exit QR code, the game will end;
Time runs out.
